Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)

Shock Wave Therapy

At Riverwalk Physical Therapy, we see people everyday that have tried everything from steroid injections to medications, splints, braces, strapping, taping and/or special shoe inserts; and nothing works to ease the pain. This is common. Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) is the non-invasive possible solution for conditions not helped by anti-inflammatory or immobilization devices.

E.S.W.T treats a variety of conditions using shock waves, or Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), outside the body. The most common treated conditions include Plantar Fasciitis, Tennis Elbow, Shoulder Tendonitis, and Achilles Tendonitis. The treatment is non-surgical and non-invasive. This quick, effective procedure harnesses intense but very short energy waves to heal many chronic painful orthopedic conditions.

Some people feel better after just one treatment, but it is common to receive 3-5 sessions of Shock Wave Therapy for your condition.
